D’Angelo Russell of the Los Angeles Lakers couldn’t be stopped on Friday night.
The Milwaukee Bucks threw everything they had at him: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Patrick Beverley, Brook Lopez, Damian Lillard, and others.
But it still wasn’t enough and Russell scored 44 points and led his Lakers to a 123-122 win, snatching the game-winning bucket in the final seconds of the game.
Following the defeat, Antetokounmpo spoke with Daniel Starkand about Russell’s game-winner and big night:
“I think on a play like that, you got to get into him and be a little more physical… Obviously he had a great game, led his team all the way to the end and won the game for them. Made great passes, made great shots, great decisions. He was incredible tonight.”
Giannis on DLo’s game-winner and big night overall:

Russell’s 44 points weren’t just a team-high and game-high, they were also a season-high for the guard.
Just a few months ago, many Lakers fans expected Russell to be traded away.
His season got off to a rough start and there were even multiple games when he even came off the bench.
But for the last several months, Russell has been on a tear, a man on a mission who has been remarkably consistent.
It has many people wondering what is next for Russell.
Will the Lakers double down on him after this strong season and sign him to a new deal or will they toy with the idea of letting him leave?
His 18.1 points, 3 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game this season is coming in very handy.
If it weren’t for Russell, the Lakers would have lost on Friday night.
He seemed impossible to minimize and the fact that Antetokounmpo feels that way shows how true it is.
