Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks has been with Nike for years and has brought a lot of money to the mammoth shoe brand.
But years ago he nearly signed a contract with Adidas and only withheld a deal because of the way the company treated his family.
According to Legion Hoops, Antetokounmpo said he signed with Nike over Adidas because the latter wasn’t sure if they wanted to give a contract to his brother Thanasis too.

Ironically, Antetokounmpo made this statement on his brother’s show, appropriately titled “The Thanalysis Show.”
He said that as an up-and-coming basketball player in Greece, he was wowed by Adidas and all they offered him.
“The contract back then was three to five thousand. We got free clothes, we were happy. We got free food, free clothes, we got a ride to the headquarters in Greece,” Antetokounmpo said of the proposal from Adidas.
But then things changed when his family showed up.
Antetokounmpo said that the Adidas representative wasn’t friendly with his loved ones and wouldn’t commit to any contract for his brother.
The company’s refusal to sign Antetokounmpo’s brother was just too much for the future superstar and he walked away from the tantalizing deal.
At the time, this was seen as a questionable move because Antetokounmpo had yet to prove himself in the league.
He didn’t know if any bigger deals would ever come around.
Now, years later, it’s clear that Antetokounmpo was a massive megastar in the making.
He eventually signed a deal with Nike and became one of the biggest names in the game.
As for his brother, he followed him into the NBA, and now both Antetokounmpo brothers are playing together.
