The Milwaukee Bucks made a dramatic decision to cut ties with Adrian Griffin despite a 33-13 start to the 2023-24 NBA season.
There were reportedly issues behind the scenes with Griffin and team personnel and players, bad enough for ownership to fire him and bring in Doc Rivers.
Rivers was doing occasional broadcasts for ESPN, but accepted a four-year deal to become the Bucks’ new head coach midway through the year.
However, the start hasn’t been very encouraging as Milwaukee is 3-7 in their last 10 games and could fall out of the top three in the Eastern Conference.
Giannis Antetokounmpo has been playing some of the best basketball in his career this season, but it hasn’t resulted in as many wins as he would like.
Antetokounmpo has had to deal with multiple coaching changes in the last half year and he admitted it’s taking a toll via Rob Peterson of The Athletic.
“It’s draining,” Antetokounmpo said.
During his media availability at All-Star Weekend, Giannis Antetokounmpo was asked about his Bucks’ turbulent season and its recent struggles under new coach Doc Rivers.
“It’s hard… But yeah, I love working with Coach Doc.”

So much change on the sidelines can be tiring for people, even Antetokounmpo who can thrive in any system or scheme.
However, the constant change in philosophies and voices in the locker room can be tough to deal with and it’s clear that it’s been affecting Antetokounmpo and the rest of the roster on the floor.
The All-Star break came at a good time for the Bucks because the organization as a whole needs to get on the same page if they want to legitimately contend for a title.
Milwaukee still shouldn’t be taken lightly, but they do look vulnerable.
