The New York Giants know there’s a lot at stake this season.
As such, they’re making thorough assessments of every move they make.
According to Giants beat writer Pat Leonard, Brian Daboll’s team has signed undrafted free agent linebacker K.J. Cloyd.

Of course, in a corresponding roster move to make room for him, they had no choice but to release defensive back Kaleb Hayes.
For those who are unfamiliar with Cloyd, he’s a linebacker out of Louisville.
He was signed by the Minnesota Vikings earlier in the offseason but was released shortly after.
Now, he’ll get another chance to make the league, this time under defensive coordinator Shane Bowen.
Needless to say, his chances of making the 53-man roster this deep into the offseason are quite slim, but nothing is impossible in this league.
As for Hayes, he was initially signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent after the 2023 NFL Draft, but he was released after training camp.
He joined the Giants shortly after and spent last season on the practice squad, so even though he was released, there’s always a chance that they’ll bring him back at some point in the future if they need more depth at the position.
