The New York Giants could have a depth issue at quarterback.
Veteran Drew Lock, who is the backup to starter Daniel Jones, suffered a bone contusion and a strained oblique in the preseason opener against the Detroit Lions.
Giants head coach Brian Daboll addressed how the team may be looking to combat this injury in the quarterback room if Lock misses time.
Asked if Big Blue might decide to bring in another quarterback, Daboll said, “Potentially, if he can’t go.”

Jones and Tommy DeVito are the only remaining quarterbacks on the Giants roster.
Veteran options such as Ryan Tannehill, Trevor Siemian and A.J. McCarron are out there on the free agent market.
This looks to hinge on how severe Lock’s injuries are.
If there are no long-term issues, perhaps the Giants will just go with Jones and DeVito in the preseason.
The other issue is that Daboll might not want to play Jones in meaningless games, so that would leave DeVito as the only quarterback available to take snaps.
New York has a real decision to make here, and it does have some significance if not handled the right way.
It is an odd spot for a team to be in because this is not the regular season. If it were, Jones would start and DeVito would back him up with no issues.
But because the preseason is essentially meaningless to the starters, it is a risk to put Jones out on the field.
Time will tell if the Giants decide they need another QB or not.
