Last season, the New York Giants cycled through three different starting quarterbacks as a result of a torn ACL that usual starter Daniel Jones suffered at midseason.

Thus, shoring up their offensive line is one task they have if they are to become a playoff-caliber team again.

Perhaps their only star on their offensive line is left tackle Andrew Thomas, and the Giants reportedly have restructured his contract in order to create some salary cap space.

“The Giants have converted $4.175M of LT Andrew Thomas’ base salary into a signing bonus, creating $3.34M in 2024 cap space,” wrote Field Yates of ESPN.

The team now has around $18M in cap space. Plenty of room to operate with.

Thomas was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, and in his first three pro seasons was considered a rising force.

But last season, he was limited to 10 games because of a knee injury.

Entering this season, the Giants’ offensive line is ranked No. 28 in the league by Pro Football Focus.

A lot of the hope the Giants have for this season and beyond is centered on rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft who seems to have star potential.

Nabers had 89 catches for 1,569 yards and 14 touchdowns during his final season at LSU and is projected to give Jones the type of playmaker at wide receiver he has never really had in the NFL.

In New York’s second preseason game, against the Houston Texans, he had four catches for 54 yards.

The Giants have a lot of work to do to return to respectability, but a healthy and strong season from Thomas would help them improve on last season’s 6-11 finish.
