Through the first seven weeks of the 2023 NFL season, the New York Giants have been one of the most disappointing teams in the league.
After making the playoffs last year, the Giants currently have a 2-5 record after their first seven games of the 2023 campaign, and another trip to the postseason seems unlikely.
Despite their struggles, New York has been much more competitive during the last two weeks when they lost by five points to the Buffalo Bills in Week 6 and then when they were able to defeat the Washington Commanders by seven points on Sunday.
One of the biggest differences for the Giants during their last two matchups has been the absence of quarterback Daniel Jones.
Jones injured his neck in a Week 5 loss to the Miami Dolphins, and according to New York head coach Brian Daboll on Monday, the team has no update yet regarding when the veteran quarterback will be back on the field for them, via SNY.

With Jones out during the last two weeks, backup Tyrod Taylor has been filling in as the Giants’ starting quarterback.
It will be interesting to see how New York approaches their future if they continue to play well without Jones in the lineup.
If he’s healthy enough to return, but the Giants are still playing well with Taylor as their starter, then Daboll might want not want to make a quarterback change.
Jones could still be New York’s long-term answer at the quarterback position, but their head coach should be smart enough not to ruin the offense if it continues to perform well with Taylor starting under center.
