The New York Giants have been the talk of the NFL offseason due to being the subject of the first offseason edition of HBO’s Hard Knocks, but they have also had an interesting offseason on the field.

The Giants made a huge addition on defense this offseason, and one player recently said that this new Giant will be a “game changer.”

Giants linebacker Bobby Okereke went on Up & Adams with Kay Adams show and heaped praise upon new edge rusher Brian Burns, saying “this guy’s electric, this guy’s a game changer.”

The Giants’ defense was in desperate need of a game-wrecking talent, and bringing in Burns from the Carolina Panthers this offseason gives the team the star it hasn’t had in quite some time.

Burns posted eight sacks for Carolina’s awful defense last season and now has 46 sacks in his first five seasons, and he’ll be providing a boost to a defense that had the 4th-fewest sacks in the NFL last season with just 34.

Kayvon Thibodeaux had 11.5 sacks last season, and nobody else on the team had more than five.

Thibodeaux and Burns will now form one of the league’s most dangerous pass-rushing duos and hopefully take some pressure off of a young secondary.

This defense surrendered 23.9 points per game last season and struggled in nearly every aspect, and it didn’t help that the offense was so bad that it was constantly put in bad positions or forced to stay on the field longer than desired.

If the offense can avoid being 30th in the league in scoring again, that should help the defense as well.
