The 2023 NFL season was a complicated one for the New York Giants.
Following a positive first season under HC Brian Daboll, the team regressed in 2023, especially offensively.
Daniel Jones failed to live up to his new contract, and the offense looked much better when he was out with an injury.
Notably, due to Tyrod Taylor also being out, the Giants had no choice but to resort to undrafted rookie QB Tommy DeVito.
It didn’t take long before he became a local sensation, helping the team win, and making the offense look smooth and efficient.
He eventually lost his job again, and he’s not expected to be in the mix to start for them in the foreseeable future, but he’s still a fan favorite in the Big Apple.
That’s why the fans at Madison Square Garden were thrilled to see him attending the New York Knicks’ win over the Brooklyn Nets (via New York Basketball).

DeVito’s run with the Giants was reminiscent of Jeremy Lin during his ‘Linsanity’ run.
The Giants recently signed Drew Lock to a one-year, $5 million contract, and with Tyrod Taylor leaving to sign with the New York Jets, he’s firmly expected to be Daniel Jones’ primary backup.
Also, with rumors of the Giants looking to trade up in the first round of the NFL Draft to get another franchise quarterback, the chance of DeVito taking the field again are quite slim.
At least he can always brag about being a local legend, and he’s never going to have to buy a beer again in New York.
