It’s funny how things work in the National Football League.
Just three years ago, New York Giants fans saw the team pass on an opportunity to draft Isaiah Simmons.
Now, they got him in return for a future seventh-round pick.
Simmons decided to shift from linebacker to defensive back, and after failing to impress throughout the course of training camp and the preseason, the Arizona Cardinals decided it was time to move on from him.
Ironically, ESPN insider Jordan Raanan reports that the Giants want to shift him back to linebacker, stating that he’s the perfect project for defensive coordinator Don “Wink” Martindale.
The Giants plan to use Isaiah Simmons as a linebacker. He’s bounced around between linebacker and safety in Arizona.

Simmons had reportedly told new HC Jonathan Gannon that he didn’t want to play linebacker anymore.
He’s played as many as four different positions since entering the league, and that positional versatility was the reason why he went so high at No. 8 overall out of Clemson in 2020.
The Cardinals didn’t pick up his fifth-year option, so playing for a second contract should give him more than enough motivation to be at his best.
Even if he doesn’t want to play in that position anymore, this might be his final chance to make a name for himself in the league, and he knows it.
The Giants are looking to make a splash out of a very competitive NFC East division, and there will be no margin for error or tolerance for mistakes there.
It’ll be up to him to prove why he was a top-10 pick just three years ago.
