The Los Angeles Lakers may have to settle with an In-Season Tournament banner, and that’s it.

Darvin Ham’s team has yet to find its groove, and we’re a handful of games away from the midway point of the regular season.

Injuries or not, it just doesn’t seem like this roster is a good fit together, and they might need to get rid of some pieces.

With that in mind, Gilbert Arenas told Shannon Sharpe on his Nightcap show that he believes the Lakers are getting ready to make a big trade.

Arenas argued that guys like Rui Hachimura and D’Angelo Russell should be playing, so the fact that they sat out with reported injuries makes him think they’re just trying to keep them safe to trade them.

“I think they are getting ready to trade.  Because the fact that they didn’t play Rui tonight or D Lo let’s us know you’re shelfing them,” Arenas said.

The former All-Star claims that both players’ value has already been set, so they don’t need to have them on the court to convince other teams to take them.

Arenas argues that they could also be trying to drive Jarred Vanderbilt’s trade value up by showcasing him and proving that he’s healthy and could contribute to another team.

Of course, this wouldn’t be the first time that a team fakes an injury to keep a player away from an actual injury and trade him, so this theory makes some sense.

Then again, the Lakers cannot afford to keep dropping games at this point in the season, so it’s hard to think they would risk sliding further in the standings just to move two players whose trade value isn’t that high to begin with.
