Over the last year, the term “generational talent” has been used a lot, mostly in reference to Rookie of the Year Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs.

But what does that phrase mean and who is a true generational talent?

Sitting down on the “Pat Bev Pod,” Gilbert Arenas gave his opinion on this.

He said that Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors is not a generational talent, regardless of how special he is.

Others, like Wembanyama, LeBron James, Serena Williams, and Michael Phelps are generational talents because they have skills and abilities that cannot be taught.

Arenas wasn’t knocking Curry by saying that and added that the Warriors star has a work ethic that is second to none and that has turned him into a four-time champion.

He may not be a generational talent but he is certainly a one-of-a-kind player.

Arenas explained that certain athletes are born with greatness.

It isn’t something that has to be learned; it just needs to be harnessed and maintained.

They have the chance to change whatever league they play in, as long as they are able to master what they have been gifted with.

Wembanyama is a great example of someone who has been given rare abilities and potential.

His size is unquestionably special, and there is a good chance that he will become the best player in the NBA if he takes care of his body, consistently pushes himself, and continually grows.

Arenas isn’t the only one calling Wembanyama a generational talent but now it’s time for him to prove that he is.
