Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry ignited the GOAT point guard debate last week.
During his appearance on Gilbert Arenas’ “Gil’s Arena” show, the four-time NBA champion made his case for being considered the greatest point guard of all time, even ahead of Magic Johnson.
And while someone — allegedly including Michael Jordan — didn’t seem to agree with Steph’s take, Arenas actually believes his championships are more valuable than Magic’s.
In a follow-up episode, the former NBA All-Star explained that, as great and impactful as Magic was, he was actually drafted into a dynasty, whereas Curry made one of his own.
Arenas stated that the Los Angeles Lakers were already one of the best teams in the league and had multiple stars when they added Magic, who wasn’t even their best player during some of their championship runs.
He also made a case for him being a shooting guard and sharing ball-handling duties with Norm Nixon when he first entered the league.
And even though Steph also had Kevin Durant for two of those championships, he actually helped uplift the franchise from being bottom-feeders to the most dominant team in the league.
Arenas has never minced his words about anything, and he always seems to have an outside-of-the-box take about most things, but he could be right on cue here.
