Every year, the graphics and gameplay of some of the top video game franchises seem to improve and set the bar a little higher than the previous year.

At this point, the 2K Sports franchise for basketball and Madden for football seem to be the best sports games on consoles like PlayStation and Xbox.

Even though these companies try to set the bar a little higher every single year for these annual sports video game franchises, some games in the past stick out among the rest due to the players in their prime at that time or a particular game mode that has been replicated or was the best at that time.

Usually, this is a generational thing, as the best games are the ones you grew up playing because you had the time to play them and became consumed with mastering them to beat your friends and or dominate online.

Former NBA star Gilbert Arenas has one game in particular that he believes was the best, as he’s going with “NBA Live 08” because he was on the cover of the game, via “Gil’s Arena.”

These kinds of debates don’t seem to have too much of a consensus, even though the franchises themselves might be at the top, as 2K Sports dominates the space when it comes to basketball.

Arenas going with the game in which he was on the cover comes as no surprise, but there’s sure to be different opinions if this question was asked to multiple former and current NBA players.
