What does it mean to be a “crafty” NBA player?
That is a good question and one that was asked in the latest episode of “Gil’s Arena”.
Gilbert Arenas immediately had a response: he chose Jamaal Tinsley as the craftiest opponent he met in the league.
He said Tinsley was able to bounce the ball between the legs of big men, did behind-the-back passes, and could get around any sort of defensive plan thrown his way.

Tinsley averaged 8.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 6.1 assists during his 11 years in the NBA.
After being a member of the All-Rookie team in 2001, he spent seven seasons with the Indiana Pacers before moving to the Memphis Grizzlies and finally the Utah Jazz.
He isn’t one of the most memorable players from that era but Arenas says he left quite an impression on the people he competed against.
Being crafty is a special, important talent for NBA stars.
It requires the ability to move with speed and foresight.
Tinsley and other crafty stars have been able to get past their opponents because of their impressive handles, passing abilities, and speed.
They are hard to contain and sometimes impossible to stop.
Today’s league is filled with many crafty stars, such as Ja Morant, Steph Curry, Nikola Jokic, and others.
They have the ability to not only score on their own but also find their teammates in some jaw-dropping, lightning-fast ways.
Crafty players make for entertaining basketball but they also create headaches for their opponents and Arenas knows that all too well.
