Former NBA superstar and current podcaster Gilbert Arenas has developed a reputation for having wild takes on the NBA.
He recently stepped it up a notch when he said that two current players are considered better scorers more than 4-time NBA champion Stephen Curry is.
In a recent episode of Gil’s Arena, Arenas said Devin Booker and Trae Young are considered scorers more than Steph Curry is, saying “How he plays the game, our brains don’t identify him as just a natural scorer.”

This is a perfect example of a take that would anger a lot of people (as evidenced by the replies to the tweet) but it is actually sensible and reasonable if you watch the video.
Arenas was talking about how there is a difference between players who are considered shooters versus those who are considered scorers, and the way Steph plays makes him more of a shooter.
This is fair since he is the consensus best shooter in NBA history and he doesn’t score a lot of his points via the midrange, the free throw line, or by beating his defender 1-on-1.
Trae Young and Devin Booker love attacking 1-on-1 and getting to the foul line and routinely score in a variety of ways in isolation situations, while Curry relies more on his incredible cardio and off-ball movement to get his points.
This take feels like rage bait if you don’t watch the video, which is something Arenas has been guilty of before, but he is actually correct with this one.
