Is there a rift growing between Team USA and Jaylen Brown?
There seems to be following the decision to use Derrick White over Brown after Kawhi Leonard’s departure.
Speaking to the press, per NBC Sports Boston, Team USA executive director Grant Hill tried to shut down any rumors and conspiracies about Brown and said the decision to choose White was strictly business-related.
Noting that he has to say no to multiple NBA stars he admires, Grant said, “The responsibility I have is to put together a team. A team that complements each other, a team that fits, a team that will give us the best opportunity for success.”

There are quite a few NBA fans disappointed that Brown didn’t get the nod from Team USA after Leonard stepped away.
He just had an amazing season, won a title, and also claimed Eastern Conference Finals MVP and Finals MVP.
To many, that means Brown was the perfect candidate to fill the void left by Leonard.
Instead, Team USA went with Brown’s teammate and friend, Derrick White.
To be fair, White just had the best season of his career and averaged 15.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 5.2 assists.
He will definitely be a great fit alongside LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Anthony Edwards, Jayson Tatum, and others.
Ultimately, that is why he was selected, according to Hill.
Putting Team USA together isn’t easy partly because there is just so much great American talent in the league right now.
There are only 12 spots on the team and Hill and his staff have to make some tough choices.
There will be criticism and hurt feelings no matter what decisions Team USA makes but Hill is telling everyone that this was solely a choice related to the success of the team and its pursuit of a gold medal.
