For years, Grant Williams was a glue guy and a very valuable piece for the Boston Celtics.
They took him with the No. 22 pick out of Tennesee in 2019.
He made big contributions with his three-point shooting and defense, as well as his basketball IQ.
However, with the Dallas Mavericks willing to offer him a larger role and more money, he left the team in the offseason via a sign-and-trade.
Still, he was a beloved member of the team, and one of the core players that left the premises in the summer.
Nonetheless, he didn’t get a tribute video when he came back to the TD Garden.
Months later, he finally talked about it.
Talking on FanDuel TV’s “Run It Back,” the forward admitted that it would’ve been nice to get a tribute video and reminisce about the highs and lows he had there.

Still, it wasn’t much of a surprise, as he found out that Robert Williams III let the organization know that he didn’t want to have a tribute video, so it didn’t make sense for him to get one either.
The Celtics reportedly intended to give videos for both of them, as well as Marcus Smart and Malcolm Brogdon, but Williams never got his.
In hindsight, leaving Boston didn’t actually work out for Williams.
He reportedly rubbed people the wrong way in Dallas and was traded to the Charlotte Hornets midway through the season.
Now, both of his former teams are facing off in the NBA Finals.
