On Thursday, the Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners squared off in a series opener at Angel Stadium in Anaheim.

It was certainly an exciting game.

Seattle scored first in the top of the sixth before the Angels answered back with two in the bottom half and another run in the eighth to make it 3-1.

However, the Mariners didn’t go quietly, as they bounced back in front with a one-out grand slam by rookie Cade Marlowe off of Halos closer Carlos Estevez.

Seattle won, 5-3.

On Twitter, Sarah Langs posted a graphic which shows just how crazy of a game it was, thanks to the constant fluctuation of the win probability and who it favored.

For most of the night, the win probability favored the Angels, especially towards the end.

But baseball is rarely that simple.

The Halos had victory right in their grasp and ultimately let it slip away as the Mariners pulled off an improbable comeback in the ninth inning.

Win probability is usually something that fluctuates during games, but it especially fluctuated towards the end of Thursday night’s tilt between the Mariners and Angels.

It was yet another classic AL West showdown in Southern California.

But it was the Mariners who ultimately pulled away and defeated the Angels on Thursday night.

Still, it’s interesting to see how win probability can change based on certain situations in a game.

It certainly changed quite a bit on Thursday in this game.

In the end, the Mariners came out on top.
