Each MLB season there are always teams that surprise the rest of the league.
Last season the World Series champion Texas Rangers were a team that no one saw coming.
They increased their win total by 22 games en route to winning the first championship in franchise history.
You never know which teams it may be, but some always go above and beyond their expectations.
According to MLB, more than a third of the league saw their win total jump by at least nine in 2023.

So the question that remains is which teams will be taking a similar jump this year?
Two teams that should come to mind right away are the New York Yankees and St. Louis Cardinals.
Both teams are far too talented to not be in playoff contention next year.
The Yankees added Juan Soto in the offseason to bolster their lineup.
The Cardinals added Sonny Gray and a few other veteran pitchers to bolster their staff.
Another team that seems to be ascending is the Detroit Tigers.
Last season they won 78 games which was 12 more than the previous year.
There is still a lot of time left in the offseason and a lot of quality free agents to sign.
