MLB is currently enjoying the last day of its All-Star break.

Every team will return to action on Friday.

During all these days, when we weren’t enjoying the All-Star festivities, we were discussing who were the best players of the first half.

In the National League, Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. has been the best and most impressive performer, but that’s not the opinion of everybody.

In fact, FOX Sports: MLB invited people to vote on four NL MVP candidates in the first half.

“Midseason Awards time! Cast your vote below! NL MVP: –@Braves OF Ronald Acuña Jr. –@Dodgers 1B Freddie Freeman – Dodgers OF Mookie Betts – @Dbacks OF Corbin Carroll,” they tweeted.

In case you were wondering, Acuna was leading the voting quite comfortably, with more than 74 percent, as of Thursday afternoon.

Carroll was second, Betts was third, and Freeman was fourth.

When a player is on a 40-70 pace and is, on top of that, slashing .331/.408/.582, there really shouldn’t be much of a case for anybody else.

What he has done to this point is nothing short of amazing.

Many power-speed threats failed to post 20-40 seasons over long careers.

Acuna did it in one half.

He is hungry for more, though, and is really aiming to make history.

Even a 40-50 campaign would put him in exclusive territory.

Carroll, Betts, and Freeman have all been excellent, carrying their teams to a tight competition for the NL West top spot.

But Acuna is the best player on the best team in MLB.

The NL MVP is not particularly close at this stage.
