When players who are expected to be stars in MLB struggle and fail to live up to the hype, it really affects their teams.

For example, the New York Yankees failed to make the postseason in a year in which Carlos Rodon, Luis Severino, Nestor Cortes, Anthony Rizzo, and Giancarlo Stanton all struggled.

The same can be said about the Cleveland Guardians in a down (for his standards) Shane Bieber year.

However, these players, and many others who had a rough time in 2023, carry some bounce-back potential.

If they return to their pre-2023 levels, their team will reap the benefits just as much as they suffered because of their struggles last year.

FOX Sports: MLB posted, on Twitter, a list of six potential bounce-back players for the 2024 campaign.

These rebound candidates are Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Carlos Correa, Rodon, Jeremy Pena, Severino, and Kris Bryant.

They posted their 2023 stats and their ZiPS projections for 2024.

Guerrero was subpar in comparison to other seasons, but ZiPS (a FanGraphs projections system) has him hitting 31 home runs and driving in 100 runs this year.

Rodon, who had a horrible 6.85 ERA in his debut season with the Yanks, is now projected to post a much better 3.86 ERA with a solid 28.2 percent strikeout rate.

It’s not the sub-3.00 ERA he had in 2021 or 2022, but the Yankees will gladly take it.

Correa and Bryant are now projected to get close to the .800 OPS threshold after disappointing performances in 2023, and Severino, one of the worst pitchers in baseball last year, will get a fresh start with the Mets.

Other rebound candidates around the league are Trevor Story, Alek Manoah, Starling Marte, Elly De La Cruz, Amed Rosario, and Jeff McNeil.
