GG Jackson experienced a lot during his rookie season with the Memphis Grizzlies but perhaps the most amazing thing he did was play against Rookie of the Year Victor Wembanyama.

Even though Jackson was once a self-proclaimed “hater” of Wembanyama, he is now completely blown away by the San Antonio Spurs star.

In fact, speaking with the crew on “Run It Back,” Jackson said that he thinks Wembanyama will someday be “the greatest player to ever play the game.”

He believes this because Wembanyama’s handles, shooting, and confidence have all greatly improved in the first season alone.

He predicts that as long as Wembanyama doesn’t get complacent and remains hungry, he is “coming for it all.”

Many people think that Wembanyama could be one of the best big men the NBA has seen but Jackson’s prediction takes things a bit further and envisions the young French star as the greatest basketball player to ever be in the league.

Obviously, that is a major compliment and a sign of how well-respected Wembanyama is, even after just one season.

During his first season, Wembanyama averaged a stellar 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and a league-high 3.6 blocks per game.

Those are truly startling numbers and they will likely look even better in the years ahead as the Spurs star gets more confident and refines his game.

Jackson was no slouch either, scoring 14.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per game during his first year.

The votes are in and Wembanyama is the best new player of 2023–24.

But if Jackson is right, Wembanyama will achieve so much more than winning Rookie of the Year.
