On Saturday, MLB fans witnessed one of the most heated on-field discussions/fights in years.
In the game between the Cleveland Guardians and the Chicago White Sox, there were several ejections after Jose Ramirez and Tim Anderson got into a physical altercation.
After arguing over a play at second base and some past incidences, Anderson and Ramirez prepared to fight with their fists and did it, with several punches being thrown (and landed).
The teams completed their series on Sunday: Ramirez was in the Guardians lineup but Anderson wasn’t in for the White Sox, as manager Pedro Grifol cited a “scheduled day off”.
Since punches were thrown, MLB is expected to hand down punishment this week.
“Still awaiting official word from MLB on White Sox-Guardians discipline. Suspensions expected for Anderson, Ramírez for fist fight,” the AP’s Tom Withers tweeted.

After the altercation, Ramirez spoke to the press and said Anderson has been disrespecting the game and he had talked to him before the incident about it.
He said “Anderson invited him to fight” and he had to defend himself.
The topic has been thoroughly discussed on social media, and people have compared it with the 2016 brawl between Jose Bautista and Rougned Odor.
Ramirez is, easily, the Guardians’ best player, so any suspension will likely affect the team heavily.
Anderson has had a bit of a down season in Chicago and the White Sox aren’t actually in contention, but he is expected to receive punishment in the form of games and the lineup will feel it.
The league shall speak soon.
