The New York Jets’ situation with Haason Reddick might be getting out of hand by now.
A report stated that the Philadelphia Eagles gave the Jets permission to discuss a contract extension with Reddick before trading for him.
And while he didn’t accept their terms, they also agreed to re-engage in discussions during the season, based on his performance.
Now, Reddick has refused to honor his end of the deal, as he hasn’t even reported to training camp as he looks to get a new contract.
Notably, that has cost him plenty of money.
According to a report by Connor Hughes (via Dov Kleiman), he’s been fined almost $1 million already.
Haason Reddick has potentially been fined close to $1 Million so far by the #Jets:
– $100K from skipping the 2-day mandatory minicamp
– $50K per day in #JetsCamp for every day missed ($550K so far)
– Additional $300K optional fine for being this deep into camp w/o showing up… pic.twitter.com/RMB7VylsVQ

He was fined $100K for skipping the 2-day, mandatory minicamp.
Then, he’s been fined $50K per day for every day he’s missed the team’s training camp, which amounts to $550K so far.
Last, but not least, he’s gotten a $300K optional fine for being this deep into camp without showing up.
Granted, Reddick is one of the prime headhunters in the game, and he could definitely make a huge impact on any team in the league.
Then again, the Jets want to see any sign of good faith from him; negotiations are a two-way street.
The Jets need Reddick out there after losing Bryce Huff in free agency, and he’s well aware of his leverage.
Hopefully, they’ll be able to find some common ground before this situation keeps escalating, as the start of the season is just around the corner.
