The New York Jets are trying to win a Super Bowl.

For that, they’ll need to get back to the playoffs first.

And for that, they will need to be a) healthy and b) locked in.

That’s why Haason Reddick’s situation has been such a big headache for GM Joe Douglas.

The Jets traded for the former Philadelphia Eagles pass rusher, but he has yet to report to the team.

Now, a report by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reveals that he has no intention whatsoever of showing up to training camp unless he gets a new contract.

Robert Saleh’s team already has one of the best defensive units in the game, but a veteran like Reddick would improve any defense in the league.

Then again, there has to be a point in which NFL teams just refuse to cave into the players’ demands and threats.

They happily agree to sign those contracts and make dozens of millions and then, just because someone else is getting more, they also want more.

Granted, football is a physical sport and they put their bodies on the line on every single snap, and they must maximize their values.

But one has to show up to work to get paid in any line of business, and this is no different.
