The Atlanta Hawks managed to get their hands on the No. 1 selection.

The NBA Draft class of 2024 is considered to be one of the weakest of all time, so there’s a possibility they look to trade down and flip that pick to turn it into more draft capital for the future.

Nonetheless, if that’s not the case, they might have already narrowed down their potential choice.

According to a report by Jonathan Givony of ESPN, the Hawks are honing in on Frenchman Zaccharie Risacher and UConn’s Donovan Clingan as the potential first-overall pick (Via Evan Sidery).

The Hawks appear to be “honing in” on Zaccharie Risacher or Donovan Clingan as their preferred options atop their board, per @DraftExpress (https://t.co/Wmv3ZWPFGk).

He adds that they haven’t been able to workout French big man Alex Sarr yet, leaving the door open for him to slip to the No. 2 pick and go to the Washington Wizards instead.

Risacher has been Sarr’s primary opposition for the No. 1 selection for most of the draft process.

He’s drawn comparisons to players like Orlando Magic star Franz Wagner, as he’s a big forward who can play multiple frontcourt spots and score from all three levels, although he seems to have a slightly more limited upside.

As for Clingan, he’s a physical specimen with the potential to be one of the best rim protectors in the game, and his basketball IQ and playmaking skills aren’t usual for a big man or a player of his caliber.

Then again, neither seems to be a generational prospect, so the Hawks should be more than open to moving this selection if the right trade offer comes knocking.
