The Miami Heat are about to make a massive move by keeping one of their best players in the fold moving forward.
According to insider Shams Charania, the Heat and All-Star center Bam Adebayo intend on reaching a three-year maximum contract extension worth $166 million.
The move would keep the All-NBA defender in Miami through the 2028-2029 season.
This is a huge deal.

Outside of six-time All-Star Jimmy Butler, there isn’t a better player on the team than Adebayo.
The five-time All-NBA defender is one of the best defensive players and rim protectors in the NBA.
Still just 26 years of age, Adebayo is right in his prime and can help this team get back into title contention.
However, the pressure should be on this team to win now given the fact that Jimmy Butler is 34 years of age.
This team may need another piece if they want to seriously contend in the Eastern Conference.
They did trade for former Charlotte Hornets point guard Terry Rozier in January, but that isn’t a blockbuster move that will put them over the top.
After being bounced out of the first round by the champion Celtics this year, they need to regroup.
Remember, they made it to the NBA Finals two seasons ago as an 8th seed and as a 6th seed back in 2019-20.
With Bam Adebayo in the fold for the future, Miami at least has their star center in the fold for the next half-decade.
