For years, Pat Riley and Erik Spoelstra have made a living out of finding role players and making them legitimate rotation pieces.
We’ve seen them thrive in South Beach and then struggle mightily somewhere else, with most of them getting a big payday after their days with the Heat.
Notably, that could be the case again this summer, this time with Caleb Martin.
According to a report by Mike Scotto of HoopsHype, the swingman is going to opt out of the final year of his contract with the Heat (via NBA Central).
Caleb Martin is expected to opt out of his contract with the Miami Heat and seek a bigger payday, per @MikeAScotto

He’s set to make just north of $7 million next season and is reportedly looking for a big payday, one that he might not be able to get with the Heat if their recent history is any indication.
Martin has shot 37% from beyond the arc over the past three years, and shot-makers are always in demand in the current market.
Should he leave, the Heat would be in a bit of a predicament and forced to pursue another shot-maker in the offseason.
While not a star by any means, Martin has a knack for knocking down big shots, and it’s not like the Heat are oozing with shooters right now.
The Heat also have to make a decision regarding Jimmy Butler and his future with the organization.
He’s expected to have plenty of suitors for his services around the league, and whether they trade him or not could lead to a string of major moves in South Beach, including potentially parting ways with Martin.
