The Philadelphia Phillies are probably happy to be home.
Their road trip to open the season resulted in a 1-5 record that has them in fourth place in the NL East, just ahead of the lousy Washington Nationals.
However, they are having their home opener today at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, against the Cincinnati Reds.
Fans welcomed the team with open arms despite the rough 2023 record.
In case you forgot, this is the roster that reached the World Series last year.
They couldn’t beat the Houston Astros and lost 4-2, but that NL pennant flag is going up anyway.
In fact, the Phils had a nice gesture with two injured stars:

Bryce Harper and Rhys Hoskins, two members of the Phillies’ regular lineup that are currently injured, were the ones in charge of raising the flag in front of thousands of fans.
Because of their injuries, they are currently not with the team facing the Reds.
Harper underwent Tommy John surgery to repair some elbow ligament damage after last season.
He is taking batting practice but is still a few weeks away.
He was initially expected back in July, but he will likely beat that and could even return in late May in a best-case scenario.
Hoskins, on the other hand, won’t play this season.
He suffered a torn ACL in spring training, and the recovery time is between six and eight months.
They are both part of the Phillies’ past, present, and future, so the organization had a nice gesture with them.
