It’s official: The New York Yankees have placed outfielder Jasson Dominguez on the injured list with a torn UCL.
He won’t play again this season, which is really a shame because he had revitalized the Yankees with his play.
The 20-year-old phenom is ready to undergo the dreaded Tommy John surgery.
It means he will be out of action for a few months of the 2024 season, probably as much as half of the next campaign.
With a .258/.303/.677 slash line, four homers, seven RBI, and one stolen base in only 33 plate appearances in eight games, he was showing the attributes that made him such a prized prospect in the Yankees system..
According to Brendan Kuty of The Athletic, Dominguez has been feeling elbow pain for about a week now.
“Jasson Domínguez first felt elbow pain last Sunday in Houston and played through it, per @BrendanKutyNJ. He reported it to the Yankees on Wednesday and it kept getting worse,” Talkin’ Yanks tweeted.

Perhaps if he had reported the pain as soon as he felt it, the diagnosis wouldn’t have been so serious.
It’s impossible to know if that would have been the case, though.
For now, it’s important he completes his surgery and rehab as strictly as he can so he has a chance to return next year and close to 100 percent.
He showed, in just over a week, that he is the future center fielder of the Yankees.
Of course, he still needs to prove he can make adjustments at the highest level, but the raw tools are there to be an All-Star for a long time.
