The Los Angeles Lakers continue to be one of the most discussed teams in the NBA.

They are one of the most historic teams in the league, which adds to the discussion, but they also have a lot of star players on their active roster.

Adding Lebron James alongside Anthony Davis was one of the team’s biggest moves of the past decade, but they have also added other players along the way.

One such player was D’Angelo Russell, who was traded back to the Lakers after a stint with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Russell is the third-highest scorer on the Lakers this year, just behind James and Davis.

Despite being an impactful player for this team every week, there is reason to believe he will not be on this roster in the 2024-2025 season.

Brian Windhorst recently spoke out about this in a conversation shared via Legion Hoops, saying, “I think almost certainly he will not pick up the option” with the Lakers.

With this in mind, there are a few destinations that could make sense for Russell.

He seems to be on the hunt for an NBA Finals ring, as he has yet to win one in his career.

The Boston Celtics might be an intriguing team for him to explore in the offseason, as would big-market teams like the New York Knicks or the Los Angeles Clippers.

A lot of Russell’s decision will likely come from how this year plays out, and if the Lakers are able to make a meaningful playoff run.
