The Phoenix Suns have been among the most surprising teams in the NBA over the past several years.
Despite having some of the best players in the league on their roster, the Suns haven’t found a way to break through and make a meaningful playoff run.
This is with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker on the team, both are considered top 10 players in the NBA by many analysts and fans.
To make matters worse, the Suns have the highest projected payroll of any NBA team heading into the 2024 season.
As Evan Sidery called out on Twitter, “With tax penalties included, the Suns are projected to pay $428 million for their roster next season.”

This puts the Suns over the luxury tax, making them pay even more to the league to help afford this roster.
With this in mind, something has to give for the Suns.
Either they start trading away players to offload some of their salaries, or the Suns need to go all-in, hoping to make their investment worthwhile.
Having an expensive roster doesn’t always equal success in the big leagues, which the Suns are seemingly figuring out the hard way.
They still might have a championship window open, but they’ll have to act fast to pick up traction.
The Western Conference is still a tough road for any team, but beating teams like the Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves should be good tests for them moving forward.
Can the Suns find a way to break through and rise above all the noise that’s going against them?
