Jonathan Taylor made headlines during the NFL’s offseason by requesting a trade from the Indianapolis Colts.

While this request was made public, it was later revealed the organization wasn’t willing to listen to trade offers, wanting to retain Taylor.

That has since changed.

Reports have indicated that the Colts have now allowed Taylor to explore trade requests.

While the price tag for a player of Taylor’s caliber could be expensive, Ian Rapoport has recently indicated genuine interest.

In a segment of NFL Total Access, Rapoport said, “There is real interest from teams across the NFL.”

Rapoport did call a potential deal “challenging,” especially when understanding the timing of the situation.

Training camp is nearly completed.

Players with varying draft capital have competed throughout camp, fighting for coveted roster spots across the league.

Trading for Taylor is a tricky situation for organizations, as they’d likely have to let go of one of those players.

With less than three weeks to go until the regular season begins, even if Taylor is traded soon, he would have limited time to learn a new playbook.

However, recent precedent proves that it can be done.

Christian McCaffrey was traded midseason in 2022 to the San Francisco 49ers, where he smoothly integrated into their system.

For an elite back like Taylor, his path to success could be quicker than most.

This situation has some nuance to it, as Taylor is also seeking a contract extension as part of this deal.

Are there any teams that are willing to give up the cash, especially knowing today’s running-back landscape?
