The Atlanta Hawks and New Orleans Pelicans recently made a big trade when Dejounte Murray was sent down to the Pelicans after playing with the Hawks for a few seasons.
When the trade was announced, some people were surprised it didn’t feature Brandon Ingram heading to Atlanta.
Apparently, both teams have discussed the idea of an Ingram trade but the Hawks haven’t been willing to commit.
According to Will Guillory, per NBACentral, the Hawks were “uninterested” in trading centers Clint Capela and Onyeka Okongwu for Ingram.
“As it turned out, Atlanta didn’t have much interest in giving Ingram his next contract or moving either of its top two centers (Clint Capela and Onyeka Okongwu), according to league sources,” Guillory wrote.

For the last several months, almost everyone has assumed that Ingram would be leaving the Pelicans this summer.
But so far, the team has seemingly had a hard time dealing him away.
Ingram could have worked well with the Hawks but the Pelicans wanted a lot in return for him and Atlanta wasn’t willing to agree to that.
Are the Pelicans overestimating Ingram’s value and what will be their next steps?
They clearly still want to part ways with the star but they are running out of locations to send him.
Another team will surely pop up soon but it might not be New Orleans’ first choice.
Ingram averaged 20.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.7 assists last season, which shows he still has a lot to offer other teams.
He won’t be heading to the Hawks but Ingram is definitely moving somewhere.
