After failing to make the NBA playoffs this year, the Golden State Warriors headed into the NBA offseason with a lot of questions to be answered, especially when it comes to what the immediate future holds for veteran guard Klay Thompson.

Over the past couple of years, Thompson has been in a steady decline as he’s no longer the dominant two-way player he once was, which was pivotal to this franchise winning four NBA titles in the Stephen Curry era.

Although Curry and Draymond Green have their long-term security with the team intact, Thompson hasn’t seen eye-to-eye with the Warriors brass in terms of inking a contract extension with Golden State to keep him in the Bay Area for the foreseeable future.

That said, all signs point to Thompson testing NBA free agency this summer, with a few notable teams expected to show interest in his services.

According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, there’s been no progress on a new contract for Thompson, which means he’ll likely hit the open market with the Orlando Magic, Oklahoma City, and Philadelphia 76ers potentially sending him offers via Evan Sidery of Forbes.

Even though Green and Curry look like they could be teammates until they retire, Thompson could be on his way out of the Bay Area, with the Warriors not doing everything they can to keep him in San Francisco.

Only time will tell if Thompson has played his last game for the Warriors and where he might land once he officially hits free agency late next month.
