Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs are playing in their sixth consecutive AFC championship game with a fourth Super Bowl berth on the line since 2018.

A win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday would be an incredible accomplishment for Reid, who could be thinking about his post-coaching future if the Chiefs win another Lombardi Trophy during his tenure in Kansas City.

Rumors surfaced as recently as this past season about Reid’s job status, but The Athletic’s Nate Taylor denied Reid is seriously considering retirement after this season.

“There’s no one in the Chiefs organization who has talked to me who has suggested anything of Andy Reid potentially retiring,” Taylor said on ESPN’s “The Pat McAfee Show” this week. “… I still expect him to be the coach for the Kansas City Chiefs when they enter the 2024 season.”

Reid will be 66 when the 2024 season begins with an illustrious head coaching resume under his belt – one that could be even more accomplished if the Chiefs win a third Super Bowl ring this year.

But, as Taylor said in his conversation with McAfee, Reid has no real incentive to leave as the Chiefs have one of the best overall rosters in the NFL still with Patrick Mahomes at quarterback, tight end Travis Kelce at tight end, a young running back in Isiah Pacheco and an emerging defense that finished second to the Ravens in points allowed this past season.

Reid might be thinking about retirement in a few years, but the Chiefs’ Super Bowl-winning window remains wide open so long as Mahomes is under center and the pieces around him remain mostly intact.
