Once the 2023-24 NBA season officially comes to an end for the Los Angeles Lakers, superstar forward LeBron James will have a decision to make about his immediate future, which will almost certainly be linked to where his son Bronny James gets drafted in the league.
Currently, Bronny is trying to make a name for himself at the University of Southern California, but things aren’t going as well as he and his family had hoped, with USC struggling at 8-11 on the year and the son of the NBA superstar not exactly turning a lot of heads with his play.
Even though it’s still early in the process, and no one knows what will happen at this point in time, James does have a player option on his contract with the Lakers and can become a free agent this summer.
The Lakers will likely try to retain LeBron and could go after Bronny in order to help their case, but Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN may be hinting that Los Angeles may not be willing to take on developing the 19-year-old, via NBACentral.
He was quoted as saying: “The Lakers are not a developmental program, they are a win-now program.”

If the Lakers don’t turn things around this season, it may be a foregone conclusion that LeBron decides to move on and sign with whoever drafts his son if he does get picked up in one of the two rounds of the 2024 NBA Draft.
Only time will tell how this situation pans out in Los Angeles and what the future holds for the James family as LeBron decides what to do in the twilight of his career while Bronny attempts to pave the way for a promising playing career in the league.
