The Cleveland Cavaliers were red-hot before the NBA All-Star break but have slowed down since then.
In fact, the Cavaliers are currently on a two-game losing streak and have a 5-5 record in their last 10 games.
Despite going through a slump, the Cavs remain the third seed in the Eastern Conference, with a 41-24 record this season.
Donovan Mitchell’s absence from the lineup has played a crucial role in the team’s struggles in the above-mentioned timeframe.
Mitchell has missed the last six games for the Cavaliers due to a knee injury.
The 5x NBA All-Star has been the catalyst for the Cavaliers’ sensational run this season.
Speaking of Mitchell, NBA insider Sam Amico recently predicted the All-Star guard’s potential future contract with the organization.
I predict Mitchell signs max extension with Cavs. But how things play out from here could have something to do with that. I’ve been told repeatedly he’s happy in Cleveland. https://t.co/3Gj18Clvdf

Amico predicts that Mitchell will sign a max contract extension with the Cavaliers in the future.
Mitchell is currently in the third year of his five-year, $163 million max contract he signed with the Utah Jazz.
The Cavs guard also has a player option for the final year of his contract that could complicate his negotiations with the team.
While Amico reported that Mitchell is happy to be a part of the organization, how the 2023-24 NBA season pans out could impact his decision.
The 27-year-old star could sign a shorter deal to have control over his future if the current core of the Cavaliers fails to win an NBA Championship in the foreseeable future.
