The NFC East is loaded with talented teams in the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, and New York Giants, leaving the Washington Commanders as an afterthought.
The Commanders have some talented young pieces on both sides of the football, but aren’t currently projected to do much given the rest of the division.
Offensively, Washington will be leaning on second-year quarterback Sam Howell to lead the team though at least he’s got quality weapons in Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, Brian Robinson Jr., and Antonio Gibson.
Meanwhile, the defense has several high-level players in Chase Young, Daron Payne, Jonathan Allen, and Montez Sweat.
On paper, the Commanders look like a team that should be able to compete on a weekly basis yet still aren’t getting much respect around the league.
However, one anonymous NFL person believes that Washington is being slept on and will win more games than people are expecting via Matt Lombardo of FanBuzz.
“I feel like Washington is better than people realize, at least from a personnel standpoint. They have a lot of good players … I’m talking about several players that every team in the league would take if they were available,” the NFL scouting director said.

Each season, there’s always at least one team that overachieves compared to offseason projections and the Commanders have all the makings of being that squad this year.
While they might lack a bonafide superstar, Washington has talent and depth across most positions which should help their chances over the course of a 17-game regular season.
