NFL fans have seen quarterbacks get handed massive contract extensions left and right over the past few years, and this offseason was no different with Jared Goff, Trevor Lawrence, Kirk Cousins, and Baker Mayfield all signing huge nine-figure deals in recent months
Two quarterbacks that haven’t gotten extended yet have fans starting to wonder, and one NFL insider says these are two players to keep an eye on this season due to the uncertainty surrounding their futures.
ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio appeared on The Pat McAfee Show recently and said “the two quarterbacks that I’m really watching are Matthew Stafford and Tua Tagovailoa” and added, “Stafford is clearly due for an adjustment and he wants guaranteed money beyond this season.”

Tua’s situation with the Miami Dolphins has been well-documented, especially after his draftmates Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert have already received their extensions of well over $200 million.
He is heading into the final year of his deal and while all signs point to a deal being a foregone conclusion, it’s starting to become a bit of an elephant in the room that he hasn’t gotten paid yet.
Stafford’s situation is one fans haven’t heard much about yet since he has two more years and $100 million remaining on his deal after this upcoming season, though the Los Angeles Rams have an out and can cut him after this year if they choose to do so.
Florio said Stafford deserves an adjustment, especially after Aaron Donald retired and Jared Goff got a huge contract, who most notably was the guy the Rams traded along with a first-round pick for Stafford.
