Brandon Aiyuk has become a headache for the San Francisco 49ers.
His antics on social media, cryptic posts and whatnot are becoming too much of a distraction.
They could decide to just put this story to sleep by giving him the contract he’s looking for, but it seems like they would’ve done that already if they wanted.
On the other hand, they could simply force him to play on his current contract, as he would have no choice but to perform and earn that deal on the field again.
That’s the biggest question they face ahead of training camp.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport addressed the situation, putting the brakes on the story about Aiyuk showing Washington Commanders’ film and stating that he was most likely just face-timing with Jayden Daniels and screenshotting that to stir the pot on social media.

The question now is whether the Niners will give him a deal before training camp or not, adding that the clock is ticking because the wide receiver market has already defined itself this season.
Truth be told, it looks like a matter of ego and character at this point.
Decision-makers might be getting tired of getting pushed around, and Aiyuk may have overplayed his hand already.
They would’ve paid him or traded him already if they wanted to, and it might take a whole lot for them to change their mind about that already, as they’ve always had the chance to just keep waiting and pay him later; they’re in no rush to get a deal done.
