The Cleveland Cavaliers have to make a decision soon.

Donovan Mitchell has outgrown them, and he might not be interested in extending his stay there for much longer.

Recently, ESPN insider Brian Windhorst revealed that the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets already had offers in place for the former Utah Jazz star.

Unsurprisingly, those aren’t the only teams who are keeping tabs on his situation.

According to Zach Lowe, the Miami Heat could be a team to watch in his sweepstakes, as they’ve been tied to him in the past and they have multiple movable first-round picks and young players to potentially get him (via NBACentral).

“They’ve been connected with Mitchell over the years. They’re lurking, and they have a lot of stuff to offer in terms of picks and young players.”

The Heat have been on the hunt for a third star for quite a while now.

Tyler Herro is a very good player who can go off every now and then, but he’s failed to step up as the sidekick Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo need.

They could go after Mitchell with a trade package centered around multiple picks, Nikola Jovic, and perhaps Jaime Jaquez Jr., although he was a significant contributor this season and Erik Spoelstra seemed to trust him and like him.

Whatever the case, Mitchell might be the kind of three-level scorer and playoff performer Miami has needed to get the monkey off their backs and take care of business in the NBA Finals.

Also, he’s a perfect fit for Heat Culture, as he’s a gym rat with an impeccable work ethic and a stout competitor.

Whether they’ll be able to land him, remains to be seen.
