Over the last few weeks, the primary concern for the San Francisco 49ers has been getting a deal done with superstar defensive end Nick Bosa, who desired to be paid as the best player at his position in the NFL.
With Bosa coming off the best season of his career and earning NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors for his efforts, he definitely earned the right to get a new deal and reset the market for pass rushers in the league.
Fortunately, Bosa’s representation and the 49ers brass were able to see eye-to-eye on a new deal that will pay him $170 million over five years, with $88 million being guaranteed.
After the deal was finalized, the real question was whether Bosa would be ready for Week 1 on the road against the Pittsburgh Steelers to face Kenny Pickett and company.
On Saturday, the 49ers activated Bosa, meaning he will play against the Steelers on Sunday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

With Bosa back in the fold, the 49ers are expected to make some noise during the 2023 NFL season as arguably one of the best all-around teams in the league, with an equally talented offense and defense.
Everything seems to be coming together at the right time for San Francisco, as the storied franchise could be the team to beat in the NFC this season while being one of the most balanced teams heading into Week 1.
The 49ers will be tested right out of the gate on the road against a hungry Steelers squad that wants to earn some respect after coming off a somewhat down year last season.
