The San Francisco 49ers and star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk are still working through a tough contract negotiation.
Is San Francisco still thinking about trading him? Or are they going to try to get a deal done?
Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio recently gave his take on how things will end up with Aiyuk.
“I think at this point, it makes the most sense he stays in San Francisco,” Florio said on “The Pat McAfee Show.”

I would say around Labor Day Weekend this deal is most likely to get done” ~ @ProFootballTalk #PMSLive pic.twitter.com/yfPKDiJWV3

It would certainly be quite comical for this whole situation to end up back where it all started, which is Aiyuk staying put and playing for the 49ers moving forward.
After all, this type of situation happened previously in San Francisco with All-Pro receiver Deebo Samuel a few seasons ago.
He requested a trade, and after months of deliberation, he ended up back with the 49ers on a major deal.
Could the same thing happen here?
The 49ers are a lot better with Aiyuk than without him. He is coming off back-to-back seasons of at least 75 receptions and more than 1,000 yards.
As great as Samuel is, Aiyuk might be the Niners’ best true receiver, considering his ability to shake defenders and get open.
If Florio is right and the 49ers end up keeping Aiyuk, they very well could again be considered the biggest challengers to the Kansas City Chiefs when it comes to winning the Super Bowl.
