The Anthony Richardson era is officially underway for the Indianapolis Colts.
His first regular-season NFL game was a mixed bag, as he completed 24 of 37 pass attempts for 223 yards, one touchdown, and one interception while adding 40 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
The Colts lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars, a team virtually everyone agrees is better than them, in Week 1, 31-21, but they remained competitive until the final minutes of the fourth quarter.
Richardson suffered an injury scare during the contest, but per Adam Schefter, the rookie merely has a bruised knee and will not need to undergo any medical tests.

Richardson was the No. 4 pick in April’s draft, and many around the league were raving about him following the draft combine, especially when it came to how he handled himself during the interview process.
Some even feel he has some potential to become something along the lines of another Josh Allen in terms of developing into a Pro Bowl-caliber dual-threat quarterback.
While at the University of Florida, his passing stats weren’t impressive, but his ability to move the chains with his legs gave him a high ceiling as far as scouts were concerned.
Overall, the outlook isn’t exactly good for the Colts following a rocky 2022 campaign that saw them go 4-12-1, bench starting QB Matt Ryan, and fire head coach Frank Reich.
Star running back Jonathan Taylor demanded a trade after being denied a big contract extension, and it appears he has played his final game for Indianapolis.
The 24-year-old reportedly is gaining interest from multiple teams, in particular the Miami Dolphins.
