After making a statement by crushing the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5 at Levi’s Stadium, the San Francisco 49ers have headed into a downward spiral of sorts, with the team losing to the Cleveland Browns and Minnesota Vikings in consecutive weeks.

Along with the 49ers losing two straight games against teams they probably should’ve beaten, star quarterback Brock Purdy is dealing with a concussion that will likely keep him out of Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Purdy’s status for Week 8 against the Bengals remains up in the air, but in all likelihood, he’ll be watching from the sideline at Levi’s Stadium.

Fortunately, however, Purdy was practicing with the team on Thursday, which is obviously a good sign moving forward, especially considering the fact the team will head into their bye in Week 9 before facing the Jacksonville Jaguars on the road on November 11.

Nick Wagoner of ESPN caught some footage of Purdy putting in some work in practice on Thursday.

Much like the rest of the teams in the league, the 49ers are hitting that point in the regular season when the injuries can start piling up, which can really test how deep a team is and whether it can go the distance.

At full strength, it doesn’t appear that any team in the league can contend with the 49ers, but if injuries continue taking down key players like Purdy, Christian McCaffrey, Trent Williams, and Deebo Williams, San Francisco could be in trouble moving forward.

Along with no longer being the team with the best record in the league, the Seattle Seahawks are creeping up on the 49ers in the NFC West, which is also concerning for San Francisco.
