After a successful run with Tom Brady under center, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers find themselves potentially in a rebuilding situation.
The Buccaneers will be trotting Baker Mayfield out as their starter for Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings with Kyle Trask set to back him up.
Mayfield and Trask are far cries from Brady, who managed to lead Tampa Bay to a Super Bowl championship, but this is the reality that the organization faces once the future Hall of Famer decided to retire for good.
Even though the offense features a new starting quarterback, the skill position players remain intact for the most part.
The receiving corps is still headlined by Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, one of the best tandems in the NFL.
Some could argue that the Buccaneers should go all-in on rebuilding the franchise and trading away players like Evans but it sounds like they intend to keep the star wideout via Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
The #Bucs do not plan to trade Mike Evans, per sources. He’s GM Jason Licht’s first draft pick in Tampa and a pillar there on and off the field.

Evans has been one of the best and most consistent wide receivers since he entered the league and it makes sense why Tampa Bay would be hesitant to trade him away even though their prospects of competing in 2023 aren’t very encouraging.
The Buccaneers could very well believe they can surprise the league as the NFC South projects to be one of the worst divisions this season.
It’s not out of the realm of possibility that Tampa Bay can outright win the division and sneak into the playoffs, so it’s safe to assume that Evans isn’t going anywhere, even on his expiring deal.
