For years, LeBron James and Stephen Curry have had the fiercest rivalry in the NBA.
Curry took the league by storm and won four championships in the so-called LeBron era, putting an end to his dominant tenure.
Their lives have been tangled up from day one, as they were born in the very same hospital in Akron, Ohio.
LeBron watched Curry play in college, and they wound up squaring off four times in the NBA Finals, with Curry holding a 3-1 advantage over the forward.
Now, it seems like the Warriors were looking forward to putting an end to that rivalry and actually turning it into a partnership.
According to a shocking report by Ramona Shelbourne and Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Warriors actually tried to trade for LeBron James before the trade deadline:
“Over a clandestine a 24-hour window prior to the trade deadline Thursday that included owner-to-owner conversations, the Golden State Warriors made an unsuccessful bid to convince the Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James to consider a trade to pair him with longtime rival Stephen Curry, sources told ESPN,” read the report.

The report states that they unsuccessfully attempted to convince the Lakers and LeBron to consider a partnership with Stephen Curry.
Truth be told, the Warriors would be doing LeBron a favor here in terms of contention, as they have a better chance at competing than the Los Angeles Lakers.
Nonetheless, that could’ve also been a big hit to his legacy and reputation, as some fans have always called him out for teaming up with multiple superstars in the past.
LeBron James has never been traded in his career — outside of that sign-and-trade from the Miami Heat to the Cleveland Cavaliers — and leaving his team mid-season could’ve prompted plenty of criticism, especially considering he would’ve joined his nemesis.
