Just last week, many NBA fans were convinced that head coach Darvin Ham would be fired by the Los Angeles Lakers.

But this week it sounds like his position is a bit more secure than people thought.

Sam Amick is reporting that Ham has the support of Lakers owner Jeannie Buss.

According to Amick, Buss sent a long text message to Ham “reiterating her support” after certain reports said his job could be on the line.

Amick added: “The hope from on high is that Ham can pull through, which means that improvement may have to come by way of trades – again.”

It sounds as if Ham will remain the leader of the team, at least for now.

But it also sounds like the front office is still looking to bolster its chances in the near future, probably by making some sort of trade.

Will that trade be for Zach LaVine of the Chicago Bulls, Dejounte Murray of the Atlanta Hawks, or someone else?

And who will they send away in order to get their new acquisition?

How much will a trade cost the Lakers and will it help the team get better right away?

After Thursday night’s tough defeat against the Phoenix Suns, the Lakers have a 19-20 record and are again under .500.

Next up for the Lakers are the Utah Jazz, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Dallas Mavericks.

Will Buss still be standing behind Ham if they fall even further in the standings?

When will Buss and the Lakers front office make some sort of move, either with Ham or with trades?

The clock is ticking and the Lakers continue to flounder.
